The Burren Sunday Night Back-Room AcousticMusic Series (Add us on facebook! www.facebook.com/backroomacousticmusic ) Where we're at! - The Sunday Night Singer/Songwriter Series takes place every Sunday in the backroom of The Burren, an Irish pub at 247 Elm Street, Davis Square, Somerville, MA. In the front room they have traditional Irish and Americana sessions. It's a nice atmosphere. We're in the back room. Big ol' stage... killer sound system! When We start - The show starts roughly at 8pm. There's an 8pm(ish) act, a 9:00 pm(ish) feature act as well. I usually play a set sometime after that and/or we often have guests come by and play. Cash Monies! - The hat is passed toward the end of each performer's set and it's split at the end of the night between all acts. I will pass the hat for you! Your job is to rock... my job is to shake folks down as best I can. The more people you bring, the more money you'll make. The performers also get a collective beer and wine tab of up to $50 as long as you send me flyers. Unfortunately, meals are not included and the Burren won't substitute the drink tab for food. PROMOTE YOUR SHOW! - It will be a great night for you and all involved if you can bring a good amount of folks! You'll have supporters there who are already on your side and you'll make money. We love flyers... and we love to see our night promoted on web pages, emails... etc etc Please be reasonable when booking around it. Don't book a Burren spot the night after your big Saturday show at Club Passim. If you're a touring act and trying to hit a lot of places while here or if it's your first time playing in town, please let us know so we can pair you up accordingly. Either way, please do everything you can to promote your show. Rockin' Out: Unless you're honestly telling us there will be more than 100 people in the room... WE DON'T DO DRUMS! Percussion is okay if it's a hand drum or a small set with brushes. NO STICKS!!! Loud drums or big crazy amps just don't work back there on on Sundays unless it's a holiday weekend. It drives people out of the room. We’ve learned this from experience. Don't get me wrong, you can rock to your heart's content. We just try to keep it at a reasonable volume. Unless you tell me you're bringing 80 people to the room, we stand by this one. (Keep in mind we live symbiotically with an acoustic session in the front room!) |
